Tribute
James Edward “Eddie” Buckle, III, 52 of Stafford County passed away on January 25, 2021 at University of Virginia after a lengthy illness.

Eddie was an outdoorsman and believed in family traditions along with values, he loved hunting, fishing, and playing sports. He was an Eagle Scout at the age of 14 years old and a lifetime member of White Oak Volunteer Fire Department where he was a Lieutenant and President. He was a member of the Belle Plains Boat Club and a member of the Patawomeck Indian Tribe. He worked at Virginia Department of Transportation over 30 years as an Infrastructure Manager; he also held other positions in his career at Virginia Department of Transportation and was a dedicated employee. He coached 24 years for Stafford Parks and Recreation coaching Tee ball, Baseball, and Football for his sons and his daughter teams. After his sons finished with Football with Stafford Parks and Recreation, he continued coaching Football, a game he loved coaching and teaching values and mentoring to his players. He also coached Field Hockey for Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation until his daughter started playing Middle School and on a Travel Team. He was also a Cub Scout Leader for Pack 199 and a Troop Leader for Troop 218 for 15 years.

Eddie was a great father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated husband, father, and son.

Eddie is survived by the love of his life, Nancy C. Buckle; and his children whom he loved so much and was very proud of, James E. “Jay” Buckle, IV (Jenna), Josh E. Buckle, and Lauren G. Buckle (Noah); his grandchildren he adored and loved with all his heart, Ava T. Buckle and Sawyer J. Buckle; parents James E. Buckle, Jr and Barbara D. Buckle, whom he loved very much; brother Brian S. Buckle (Patti); brother-in-law’s Troy Thompson (Pam) and Tim Thompson (LeeAnn); and his sister-in-law Tammara Thompson. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James (Jimmy) Bowling and Grace Arlene Bowling; paternal grandparents Maj (Ret) James E. Buckle, Sr. and Eleanor Buckle; as well as step-niece Kristina Heiston.

A service will be held at 11:00 on Monday, February 22 at Covenant Funeral Chapel Fredericksburg. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed for those that are unable to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lauren G. Buckle in care of Carter Bank and Trust for her College Education.

You are the love of my life always and I will miss you so much until we meet again in Heaven.
